Ann Christine Bell Vilsack (born July 9, 1950) is an American literacy advocate and politician. Vilsack is married to former Governor of Iowa and United States Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. She served as the first lady of Iowa from 1999 until 2007. She was an unsuccessful 2012 Democratic nominee for Iowa's 4th congressional district. [1]

Christie Vilsack currently serves as Education Advisor to the Chancellor of Colorado State University. She also serves as Vice President of the Iowa Wesleyan University Board of Directors, the IREX Board of Directors and the Advisory Board of the University of Iowa School of Education.

Christie Vilsack was a 2012 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 4th Congressional District of Iowa. Vilsack ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on June 5, 2012, and lost to Steve King , the incumbent from the 5th District, which was removed in redistricting.
