Skowhegan is located on a 350-acre campus in central Maine. The nine-week summer program provides 65 emerging artists and 11 faculty artists with a collaborative and rigorous environment that is shaped by risk-taking, mentorship, and peer-to-peer exchange.
The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture is an artists residency located in Madison, Maine, just outside of Skowhegan. Every year, the program accepts online applications from emerging artists from November through January, and selects 65 to participate in the nine-week intensive summer program.

Though Skowhegan retains its historic name as a school of Painting & Sculpture, artists working in every media gather on campus for the nine-week program each summer. Participants come to Skowhegan from all over the world and many different backgrounds and experience levels.
