Sam "Sluggo" Phipps (born on October 1st, 1953) is an American saxophone player, best known for being a member of the new wave band Oingo Boingo.
Toured Europe with Annette Peacock (one track on "Been On The Streets Too Long" (Ironic Records). Joined The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo in Los Angeles. Released "Animal Sounds" on Dream Records (1981) Composed theme for the "Reel Wild Cinema", t.v. series.
Doug Lacy (Boingo live keyboardist and percussionist) recruited bassist John Avila, guitarist Steve Bartek, drummer Johnny "Vatos" Hernandez, and saxophonist Sam Phipps (among other musicians) for a band called Doug & The Mystics.
Samuel J. (or G. ?) “Sluggo” Phipps is an American Tenor and Soprano Saxophone player, born 1953. He provided the Saxophone and occasional backing vocals for Oingo Boingo, also.
