The School of Law at the University of Glasgow provides undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Law, and awards the degrees of Bachelor of Laws ( Legum Baccalaureus, LLB), Master of Laws ( Iuris Vtriusque Magistrum, LLM), LLM by Research, Master of Research (MRes) and Doctor of Philosophy ( Philosophiæ Doctor, PhD), the degree of Doctor of Law...
Study Abroad placements. Over half of our students opt to undertake study abroad in their third year, at institutions across the globe. A law librarian to support your use of the on-site law workshop within the School.
Our taught postgraduate programmes include the LLM and the Diploma in professional legal practice. We offer a general LLM programme as well as an LLM with a choice of specialisms. Once admitted, transfer between programmes is not permitted by the College of Social Science regulations. The Common Law degree is designed for those who plan to practise law in common law jurisdictions such as England and Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland, and Canada.

The new LLB signalled a commitment to the advanced teaching of law within the University, providing a ‘full-time degree and provision for Honours study within the Faculty of Law’ (David M Walker, A History of the School of Law, 1990, 73).
