Biografia. Kiefer nasceu em Londres, filho dos atores Donald Sutherland e Shirley Douglas. Após o divórcio dos pais, ele e a irmã gêmea Rachel se mudaram para o Canadá, onde foram criados pela mãe. Ainda na infância ele iniciou uma carreira no teatro já atuando em peças profissionais.
