Giant Robo: The Day the Earth Stood Still (ジャイアント・ロボ - 地球が静止する日, Jaianto Robo—Chikyū ga Seishisuru Hi) is a 1992–1998 OVA series based on Mitsuteru Yokoyama's manga series Giant Robo. It was written and directed by Yasuhiro Imagawa. Giant Robo is a homage to Yokoyama's career.

Giant Robo (ジャイアントロボ, Jaianto Robo) is a Japanese manga series by Mitsuteru Yokoyama. The manga, which was first published in 1967, spawned a live-action tokusatsu television series of the same name, as well as a series of original video animations called Giant Robo: The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Directed by Yasuhiro Imagawa. Dr. Shizuma invented a revolutionary new form of renewable energy drive but had to pay a heavy price for his success in a catastrophic accident that the world wants to forget. 10 years later the secret organization Big Fire have obtained two of three mysterious Shizuma drives as part of their world domination plans.
