  1. Henry Liddell, 1st Baron Ravensworth (1708 – 30 January 1784) succeeded to the Baronetcy of Ravensworth Castle, and to the family estates and mining interests, at the age of fifteen, on the death of his grandfather in 1723. He was created 1st Baron Ravensworth on 29 June 1747.

  6. Henry Thomas Liddell, first Earl of Ravensworth, born 10 March 1797, was eldest son of Sir Thomas Henry Liddell, sixth baronet (1775-1855), who was created Baron Ravensworth (of a second creation) on 17 July 1821, by Maria Susannah, daughter and coheiress of John Simpson of Bradley.

  7. Biography. Liddell was the son of Sir Henry Liddell, 5th Baronet and his wife Elizabeth Steele. His younger brother Henry Liddell, Rector of Easington (1787-1872), was father of a younger Henry Liddell, co-author (with Robert Scott) of the monumental work A Greek-English Lexicon, and father of the Alice who inspired Alice in Wonderland.
