    This article is about the life and works of Ernest Hemingway, an American novelist and short-story writer who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. He was noted both for his writing style that exerted a powerful influence on American and British fiction in the 20th century, as well as his adventurous and widely publicized life.

    Renewed efforts at writing after war injury; worked as foreign correspondent for Toronto Star; advised by other writers such as F Scott Fitzgerald & Gertrude Stein; published first book In Our Time (1925) followed by The Sun Also Rises (1926), Death In Afternoon (1932), Green Hills Of Africa (1935), To Have And Have Not (1937).
