Life Is A Long Quiet River. Modern times, in a small town, where two families lead diametrically opposite lives. The Le Quesnoys are a pious and bourgeois couple. They form a well to do family who's five children were brought up to respect God and their parents.
Two babies are switched at birth. When the mistake is discovered 12 years later, it leads to complications in the lives of both families. One family is affluent, with dutiful and (apparently) contented children.
