RAY STILES. Ray Stiles started playing bass at the age of 14 on a guitar made by his dad. His musical influences were the beat groups of the early 60s; including The Hollies. He joined Mud in 1966 and turned professional in 1968. The band enjoyed fourteen top twenty hits, including three number one records, and performed all over the country.
The band was founded by lead guitarist Rob Davis, lead vocalist Les Gray, drummer Dave Mount (born 3 March 1947, Carshalton; died 2 December 2006, St Helier Hospital, Carshalton) and bassist Ray Stiles (born 20 November 1946, Guildford, Surrey).

Ray Stiles was born November 20, 1946 in Guildford, Surrey. Ray co-owns the Pelican Recording Studio in London. Ray also plays in his own band Taboo, in which his wife, Annie, is the lead.
