John Langeloth Loeb Jr. CBE (born May 2, 1930) is an American businessman, former United States Ambassador to Denmark, and former Delegate to the United Nations. He is an advocate for religious freedom and separation of church and state , having founded the George Washington Institute for Religious Freedom in 2009.

Loeb, Jr. earned his BA cum laude in 1952 from Harvard College and, in 1954, received his MBA from the Harvard Business School. He was a senior partner in Loeb, Rhoades & Co. from 1956 to 1976 and chairman of the Board of Holly Sugar from 1969 to 1971.

Growing Up. Born to John L. Loeb, Sr. and Frances Lehman Loeb on May 2, 1930, John, Jr. recalls a happy childhood shared with his siblings at Ridgeleigh Estate in Purchase, NY. The Loebs lived in one of two homes on the estate. John’s Lehman grandparents, Arthur and Adele, lived in the other.
John Langeloth. Loeb, Jr. He is the founder and chairman of the Institute and chairman of Loeb, Rhoades Trust. He was trustee of the American University and served on numerous Harvard visiting committees including John F. Kennedy School of Government and the Harvard Business School.
John has served as chairman of three foundations: The Winston Churchill Foundation of the United States; the Langeloth Foundation and his personal foundation. He has also served or serves on a variety of other boards and foundations listed in the “Honors” section of this website.
