Anne Bright Holton (born February 1, 1958) is an American lawyer and judge who served as the Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth of Virginia from 2014 to 2016. She is married to United States Senator and former Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, the vice presidential running mate of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.
Anne Holton is a professor of education and social welfare policy at George Mason University, and a senior fellow at EdPolicyForward. She has a long career of advocating for children and families in Virginia, as a lawyer, judge, secretary of education, and first lady.
Anne Holton is back as a faculty member after serving as Interim President of George Mason University from 2019-20. Holton began at Mason in 2017 as a visiting professor at the Schar School of Policy and Government and College of Education and Human Development, and as a Senior Fellow at EdPolicyForward, the Center for Education Policy at Mason.

On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, the Virginia Network for Women in Higher Education named Anne Holton as the 2021 Outstanding Woman Leader in Virginia Higher Education.
