Since 1901, when the College was founded by the Salesians of Don Bosco, Salesian College has maintained and developed a reputation as a school whose students achieve at the highest level, whilst remaining grounded in a firm foundation of Christian love.
The Salesian Difference. The Salesian tradition follows the example and guidance of St John Bosco. He believed that a Salesian school should be a happy place – a place of joy and lasting friendships.
In 1979, for the first time in its history, Salesian College had no boarders. From then on it became exclusively for day pupils. In 1997 the Delmer building was completed, providing the school with new I.C.T. facilities, Art rooms, Staffroom, Technology Suite, Classrooms and Office accommodation.
The Salesians came to Battersea in 1887 and are still here involved in education, youth and parish ministry. The house also stands at the centre of a strong network of academic opportunities across the city of London.
At Salesian College the staff are dedicated to the academic, cultural, spiritual, physical and emotional development of each student. It is hoped to achieve this through the Preventive System based on the principles of reason, religion and kindness. Traditionally, academic achievements are high.
