  6. Biography. Origins. Elizabeth was the daughter of Gilbert (Clare) de Clare and Joan of Acre. According to Douglas Richardson, she was probably born about November 1295 in Caerphilly, Glamorgan, Wales, [1] [2] [3] but this is uncertain.
