Robert Moffat (21 December 1795 – 9 August 1883) was a Scottish Congregationalist missionary to Africa from 1817–1870. Moffat began his missionary career in South Africa at the age of twenty-one.

Robert Moffat (1795-1883) was a Scottish missionary who worked for the London Missionary Society in South Africa. He translated the Bible into Tswana, a language spoken across southern Africa, and had a close friendship with the Ndebele chief Mzilikazi.
