Northern Star is the debut solo album by the English singer Melanie C, released on 18 October 1999 by Virgin Records. Chisholm and her team recruited several producers, including William Orbit, Rick Nowels, Marius de Vries and Craig Armstrong and Rick Rubin. Chisholm co-wrote every song.
Chisholms's solo debut album Northern Star was released in 1999 and reached number four on the UK Albums Chart and was certified triple platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). The record experienced international success; it sold over 2.5 million albums worldwide. [3]
A 2 CD compilation of Melanie C's first two solo albums, originally released on Virgin Records. The Northern Star disc features the re-issue tracklisting, although tracks 13 and 14 are not labelled as bonus tracks on this issue.

1999–2003: Northern Star and Reason Chisholm performing in Madrid in 1999. In 1999, Chisholm signed with Virgin and, during the summer, recorded the album Northern Star. She recorded "Ga Ga" from the soundtrack of the film Big Daddy. The song was released as promotional single on 25 June, only in the UK.
As a singer, Chisholm’s rich mezzo-soprano supercharges the song stock on Northern Star, as she swings from intimate tones (“If That Were Me”) to affable bluster (“Ga Ga”) throughout the LP.
