He was a great-grandson of King George III of the United Kingdom and first cousin to Princess Mary of Teck, later Queen Mary, consort of British King George V.

COL George William Adolphus FitzGeorge. He was the eldest of the three sons of HRH Prince George, 2nd Duke of Cambridge, a grandson of King George III, and Louisa Fairbrother. His parents were married in contravention of the Royal Marriages Act of 1772 and their marriage was not recognized.

George William Adolphus Fitzgeorge was the eldest of three sons of Prince George, the Duke of Cambridge who was a cousin of Queen Victoria. George was a great-grandson of George III, however he did not inherit a royal title because his father, the Duke, had married in contravention of the Royal Marriages Act. His mother was Louisa Fairbrother.
