13 de jun. de 2011 · St. Marys of the Springs. In 1830 four members of the Dominicans started St. Mary’s Academy, one of the first Catholic schools in Ohio. This Academy offered education to pioneer children of Catholics and non-Catholics. In 1866, a devastating fire consumed the St. Mary’s Academy buildings.

6 de fev. de 2024 · Columbus St. Mary School in the German Village area dedicated its new campus on Thursday, Feb. 1, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and blessing from Bishop Earl Fernandes. The $18 million redevelopment of the school campus began in October 2022 to help accommodate a 40 percent increase in enrollment since 2018.

In 1866 a devastating fire consumed the St. Mary's Academy buildings, leaving the sisters with nothing but spared lives. The sisters occupied borrowed space for two years until Theodore Leonard, a Columbus businessman, who had five daughters to educate, offered the sisters land on his old brickyard if they would build an academy in Columbus.
