Il partigiano Johnny, internationally released as Johnny the Partisan, is a 2000 Italian war drama film set in the Second World War and directed by Guido Chiesa. It is based on the novel of the same name by Beppe Fenoglio .

It tells, of course, the tale of Johnny who, like Fenoglio, is in Rome after the armistice and German invasion on 8 September 1943 and who hurries back home to Alba to join the partisans. The book is the story of Johnny and the group of partisans that he is associated with.
17 de nov. de 2000 · After the 8th September 1943 north of Italy is occupied by Germans. Italian army collapsed and the soldiers are escaped to the mountains trying to set up a resistance. Many civilians did the same and Johnny, an English literature student, is among them.
Johnny: personaggio strabiliante, dalla cultura in bilico tra quella italiana e quella britannica (facile immaginare quanto questo lo rendesse prezioso ai partigiani), decide di darsi alla macchia come mille altri sin dall' 8 settembre senza nessun tipo di formazione ideologica, che del resto un italiano così anglosassone non poteva avere.
