Lieutenant General Lord William Henry Cavendish-Bentinck GCB GCH PC (14 September 1774 – 17 June 1839), known as Lord William Bentinck, was a British soldier and statesman who served as the governor of Fort William (Bengal) from 1828 to 1834 and the first Governor-General of India from 1834 to 1835.
19 de set. de 2022 · She was the daughter of Reverend Charles Bentinck’s younger brother, Lieutenant-General Arthur Cavendish-Bentinck. Once her half-brother William succeeded as 6 th Duke of Portland in 1879, she was granted the rank of a duke’s daughter, so entitled to be called ‘Lady Ottoline’, while her husband (married in 1902) was simply Mr Philip Morrell.

Nicknamed ‘Jolly Heart’, Lord Edward Bentinck entered Parliament because he was the brother of a Duke, but had no liking for it. He was returned unopposed at Lewes on the Duke of Newcastle’s interest, as a compliment to his brother.
