www .vao .at. The Vienna Art Orchestra was a European jazz group based in Vienna, Austria. Organized at different times as either a big band or as a smaller combo, it was regarded as one of the leading European jazz ensembles and was an official cultural ambassador of the Republic of Austria.
Tired of solo work, he created the Vienna Art Orchestra in 1977. Since then, he has written almost all of the VAO’s programs, adding up to nearly 450 compositions and arrangements, and has handled the management and organization of the orchestra himself. From 1983-87, he also led the Vienna Art Choir.
