A number is said to be a 2-digit number if it consists of two digits, in which the digit on the tens place must be from 1 to 9, it cannot start from zero because in that case, it will become a single-digit number. For example, 35, 45, 60, 11, and so on are 2-digit numbers. How many Two-Digit Numbers are there?
So we're multiplying a two-digit number times another two-digit number. And the way that we're going to tackle it is we're going to first multiply 36 times 7, figure out what that is. Then we're going to multiply 36 times 20, figure out what that is, and then add those two numbers together.

The goal of the video is to divide 186 by 31. As Sal says at. 1:02. , it's easiest to do this division to round 31 to 30. We therefore end up with the calculation 186/30. It came down to wondering how many times I can put 30 into 186. I can put it 6 times (since 30*6 = 180) I deduce that 186 /30 =6, remainder 6.

That is 36 times 20. 36 times 20 is equal to 720. And hopefully that should explain why we had to throw this 0 here. If we didn't throw that 0 here we would have just a 2-- we would just have a 72 here, instead of 720. And 72 is 36 times 2. But this isn't a 2. This is a 2 in the 10's place. This is a 20.
