Sophie Hedwig of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (13 June 1592, in Wolfenbüttel – 13 January 1642, in Arnhem), was Countess of Nassau-Dietz by marriage to Ernest Casimir I, Count of Nassau-Dietz, and regent of the County of Nassau-Dietz during the absence of her sons between 1632 and 1642.

Life. Sophia was the daughter of Duke Henry Julius of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (1564–1613) and his second wife Princess Elisabeth of Denmark (1573–1625), the eldest daughter of King Frederick II of Denmark. On 8 June 1607, Sophie Hedwig married Count Ernest Casimir I of Nassau-Dietz (1573–1632). Regency.
Biography. Sophia Hedwig was the eldest child of the Duke Julius of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel from his marriage to Hedwig the daughter of Elector Joachim II of Brandenburg. Her parents provided her with a comprehensive and thorough edcudation and started marriage negotiations when she was young.
Sophie Hedwig groeide op als oudste dochter van de hertog van Brunswijk aan het hertogelijk hof in Wolfenbüttel. Zij was een kleindochter van Frederik II en een nicht van Christiaan IV, beiden koning van Denemarken. Zij kreeg een degelijke opvoeding en leerde meerdere talen, waaronder Latijn.
