Little Milton was one of the most important blues artists of the mid- to late 20th century, and he was also one of the major figures in forging the latter-day stylistic hybrid that eventually became known as “soul blues.”
He drifted into Southern soul when he cut his first album, Blues in the Key of C (Ichiban Records) which increased booking engagements in the South, Midwest and overseas, then cut four tight blues collections for Ecko Records: It’s Sweet On the Backstreet (1995), Loveseat (1998), 1999’s It Ain’t the Size, and Mr. Freak released in 2000.
