Gorm and Thyra were the parents of King Harald Bluetooth. While Gorm the Old had disparaging nicknames, his wife Thyra was referred to as a woman of great prudence.

Thyra Danebod (died c. 958) was the Queen of Gorm the Old. Gorm the Old built the rune stones in Jelling as a memorial sight for his dead Queen, Thyra, "the Pride of Denmark".
