Sora is a diffusion model, which generates a video by starting off with one that looks like static noise and gradually transforms it by removing the noise over many steps. Sora is capable of generating entire videos all at once or extending generated videos to make them longer.

Project Sora was a first party Nintendo developer that was initiated in 2009 by Nintendo and Sora, Ltd. The company is 72% owned by Nintendo and 28% owned by Sora, Ltd. The only goal of the company was to develop Kid Icarus: Uprising and as such, it was closed after the end of the game development in 2012.
The studios' director is Masahiro Sakurai, creator of Kirby and Super Smash Bros. who became a freelance video game designer around the beginning of the Nintendo DS's life. The company had around 30 employees. Being a first party company, the game Project Sora created released on the 3DS, one of Nintendo's platform.
Their first and only title, Kid Icarus: Uprising on the Nintendo 3DS, was released in 2012. In a post-E3 2011 interview, it was revealed that Project Sora was supposed to work on two games in the Super Smash Bros. franchise for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. In July of 2012, Project Sora revealed that they had close their doors, as the company had accomplished all of their goals with Kid Icarus: Uprising. Development for Super Smash Bros. was now going to be handled by Namco Bandai Games, with Sora Ltd and Nintendo supervising development.
