Alemany High School was first located on the north side of Rinaldi St, just east of Sepulveda Blvd, but due to the Northridge earthquake in 1994 it sustained damage too great to be considered safe. Insomuch, it was decided to move the school across the street into the nearby buildings of Our Lady Queen of Angels Seminary at the historic San Fernando Mission .

Bishop Alemany was dedicated to both excellent and affordable educations within his diocese. At times this desire found him at odds with his collaborators in the mission. He removed diocesan clergy from one school and replaced them with Christian Brothers because he felt the Brothers could provide the better education.

The Most Reverend Earl K. Fernandes was ordained and installed as the 13th Bishop of the Diocese of Columbus on May 31, 2022. He was serving as pastor of St. Ignatius of Loyola Church in Cincinnati, Ohio from 2019 until his ordination and installation.
