Edward Higgins White II ( San Antonio, 14 de novembro de 1930 — Cabo Kennedy, 27 de janeiro de 1967) foi um piloto, piloto de teste, engenheiro aeroespacial e astronauta norte-americano. Ele serviu na Força Aérea dos Estados Unidos a partir de 1952 e foi selecionado dez anos depois no Grupo 2 de Astronautas da NASA.

23 de mar. de 2008 · On June 3, 1965, Edward H. White II became the first American to step outside his spacecraft and let go, effectively setting himself adrift in the zero gravity of space. For 23 minutes White floated and maneuvered himself around the Gemini spacecraft while logging 6,500 miles during his orbital stroll.

3 de jun. de 2008 · During the Gemini 4 mission on June 3, 1965, Ed White became the first American to conduct a spacewalk. The spacewalk started at 3:45 p.m. EDT on the third orbit when White opened the hatch and used the hand-held manuevering oxygen-jet gun to push himself out of the capsule.
