  4. NOTES: Frieda Hughes’s first poetry collection, Wooroloo, was named after the tiny country hamlet where she lived in Western Australia between 1994 and 1998. This is where she wrote most of the Wooroloo poems. Frieda was drawn to Western Australia’s diverse landscape and open wilderness on a visit in 1988 and moved there in 1991.

  5. Alongside her own creative life, Frieda has also been the careful custodian of her mother’s literary legacy (Hughes’s estate is managed by his widow, Carol Orchard, whom he married in 1970).
