Há 7 horas · Benjamin’s ninth thesis, clearly the most famous, takes as its starting point Gerhard Scholem’s poem “Gruss von Angelus” and Paul Klee’s 1920 monoprint “Angelus Novus,” a painting Benjamin had actually owned. The thesis identifies Klee’s angel with the angel of history, whose face is turned toward the past.
