It's said that he loved wrestling the most out of all the brothers, but was literally only 5'5" while all his brothers and father were huge. Obviously the movie would have been strange to include the tiny manlet brother who never made it in wrestling and killed himself at 21. Don't really buy the "it would have been too sad" line they went with.
