Adoniram Judson, David Livingston, Amy Carmichael, George Mueller, Mary Slessor, and so many others provided me with awe-inspiring tales of dangers, adventures, and spiritual battles. I looked at present-day missionaries with a sort of reverence, viewing them as the most saint-like modern Christians.

Há 4 dias · In Calabar, it was the congregation in Duketown Parish Church who heard in me the voice of the good people who had taught them in the mission schools and told them bible stories in the Sunday schools…..the voice of the legendary Mary Slessor herself – the Mother of All the Peoples. The love for Mary there was visceral and tangible.
