  1. Há 1 dia · On a conjecture of a Pólya functional for triangles and rectangles. We consider the functional given by the product of the first Dirichlet eigenvalue and the torsional rigidity of planar domains normalized by the area. This scale invariant functional was studied by Pólya and Szegő in 1951 who showed that it is bounded above by 1 for all domains.

  2. Há 5 dias · The actual term "central limit theorem" (in German: "zentraler Grenzwertsatz") was first used by George Pólya in 1920 in the title of a paper. Pólya referred to the theorem as "central" due to its importance in probability theory.

  3. Há 3 dias · t. e. In probability theory and statistics, a probability distribution is the mathematical function that gives the probabilities of occurrence of different possible outcomes for an experiment. [1] [2] It is a mathematical description of a random phenomenon in terms of its sample space and the probabilities of events ( subsets of the sample space).
