The first house to emerge as a result of a competition organised by a magazine and presented to the client with the famous architect, Tadao Ando. The 4×4 House was adapted to the requirements of the site.

A primeira habitação surgiu a partir de um concurso organizado por uma revista e se aproximou do cliente com o famoso arquiteto Tadao Ando. A casa de 4 x 4, está adaptada para as necessidades do local. Um fator decisivo no projeto, foi o terremoto de Hanshin causou terrível devastação na área.
The 4x4 house is a private residential house designed by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando and located in Tarumi-ku, Kobe, Hyogo, on the coast of the Inland Sea in Japan. It is also a type of house built in the US from the 1700s until the early 20th Century.

This is an extremely small private house standing on the coast of the Inland Sea in Japan. Eroded by the sea, much of the site is under water. The site is unique. Regulations regarding shore protection limited construction to a small , 16.5 foot -square space.
