Há 1 dia · The novel opens with the Dean unable to sleep in stifling, pre-thunderstorm heat, and that scene is really vividly etched on my memory. That’s also true of another scene, much later in the book, again cribbed from Sayers (though this time from The Nine Tailors) but to better effect.
