Há 5 dias · Introduction. The English Civil War (1642-1651) was a defining moment in British history, pitting the forces of King Charles I against the Parliamentary forces led by Oliver Cromwell. At the heart of this conflict were the Cavaliers, the loyal supporters of the King who fought and died for the Royalist cause.
A Royalist during the Civil War, he returned to service after the Restoration and eventually rose to the rank of Admiral of the White after serving under some of the most distinguished military figures of the era, including Prince Rupert of the Rhine.
