During every battle, the player must deploy Cat Units (also known as just Cats) in order to defeat Enemy Units and destroy their base. The Basic Cat is the only Cat Unit available at the start of the game, but more can be unlocked by playing Cat Capsules or beating stages. As of 13.4, there are over 700 different Cat Units. All of the Normal Cats other than Cat, Tank Cat, Axe Cat and Gross Cat can also be obtained from the Normal Cat Capsule prior to being obtained from Empire of Cats. The last Normal Cat, Superfeline , is unlocked and upgraded a lot differently from the other nine, being unlocked from the Cat Capsule+, which is available after beating Cats of the Cosmos Chapter 3.

Special Cats. Special Cats are unlocked throughout each playthrough by completing certain missions, or after meeting specific requirements. Most Special Cats need to be purchased with Cat Food, which is obtained as a Daily Bonus and can be purchased with actual currency.
