Born in Florence to a writer and painter-turned-academic, Olivia Chaney grew up listening to everything from Prince to Henry Purcell. This eclectic mix of influences sparked a passion for songwriting that she nurtured at Chetham’s School of Music and The Royal Academy.

Olivia is self-releasing an EP of covers and a full-length album of originals in 2023-24. Born in Florence, Chaney grew up in Oxford, studying composition, piano and voice. Early influences include Bert Jansch, Mozart, medieval plainchant, Prince, Billie Holiday, Henry Purcell and Joni Mitchell.

She released her first EP in 2010 and 2013, the year she was nominated twice, for the Horizon Award and Best Original Song, at the BBC Folk Awards (and again for Folk Singer of the Year in 2019).
