Especially not with Michael Caine, that cool, sardonic actor with the Cockney elegance, in the lead. But it is pretty much a total loss; "The Black Windmill" commits the one crime no thriller can be pardoned for. It's not thrilling. It's also terribly passive and static, and Siegel directs Caine almost to a standstill.

Review by Blake Bergman "Various Spaghetti" ★★★½. "The Black Windmill" is a mid 70's espionage thriller directed by Don Seigel. While it dabbles in its fair share of gadgets and spy driven plot, the film also heavily resonates within tones of a revenger thriller, as much of its context centers around kidnapping.
