North Country is inspired by the life of Lois Jenson, who was just one of the minority female workforce at the strip mines of the Mesabi Iron Range, and who made American history when she filed the first class action lawsuit for sexual harassment. For the film, Jenson becomes Josie Aimes, played superbly by Charlize Theron.
