While Henry was treating his nephew, he was afflicted with smallpox and he died on June 13, 1861. He was only 34 years old at the time of his death. 14 de nov. de 2022 · One of the individuals who piqued my interest was Henry Gray, FRS author of one of the great teaching books on anatomy ever written, “Gray’s Anatomy”. This book was first published in England in 1858, later published in the USA from 1862 to 1990. The English Edition is still published and is now in its 42nd Edition.
Henry Grey, 2nd Duke of Suffolk, 3rd Marquess of Dorset KG KB (17 January 1517 – 23 February 1554), was an English courtier and nobleman of the Tudor period. He was the father of Lady Jane Grey, known as the Nine Days' Queen.
Henry Grey var son till Thomas Grey, 2:e markis av Dorset och Margaret Wotton, och blev tredje markis av Dorset 1530 då fadern avled. År 1533, med kung Henrik VIII:s tillåtelse, gifte han sig med Frances Brandon (1517–1559), dotter till Henrik VIII:s syster Maria Tudor och Charles Brandon, hertig av Suffolk.
Henry Grey soon shifted his allegiance to the Earl of Warwick. He received favors at court and was created (1551) Duke of Suffolk through his wife’s claim. Lady Jane was stunned when her parents informed her that she was instead to marry Guildford Dudley, the youngest son of the Duke of Northumberland.
