Location in Oxford city centre. Brasenose College ( BNC) [4] is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. It began as Brasenose Hall in the 13th century, before being founded as a college in 1509.
Situated in Radcliffe Square, Brasenose is a friendly college at the heart of the University and city. We are able to accommodate undergraduates in single rooms for all years of study at our main site or nearby Frewin complex.
It had been known as ‘Brasenose’ since at least the seventeenth century and had an ancient door knocker, dated to the twelfth century. Brasenose College purchased the house for the sake of that door knocker, which was brought to Oxford and now hangs over the high table in Hall.
Situated in the heart of Oxford next to the Bodleian Library and the Radcliffe Camera, Brasenose is a friendly and diverse community with a strong tradition of academic excellence. Brasenose's graduates study for a wide range of higher degrees across all of the University's academic divisions and collectively form a diverse and international group.
