Accommodation. Pembroke students live on the main site or in nearby College-owned houses throughout their undergraduate studies. All first years are housed on our main College site, making it really easy to make new friends when you first arrive. Accommodation ranges in age, size, and price, ensuring that there is plenty of choice.
The College. Pembroke College, founded in 1347 by Marie de St Pol, Countess of Pembroke, is proud of its traditions. The third oldest of the Cambridge colleges, it was the first to have its own Chapel, and in the stained glass windows there and in our recently renovated Library is evidence of the way we make light of that history.

The college was named after William Herbert, 3rd Earl of Pembroke, Lord Chamberlain and then-Chancellor of the University. As with many Oxford colleges, Pembroke originally only admitted men, but in 1979 it admitted its first mixed-sex cohort. As of 2020, Pembroke College had an estimated financial endowment of £63 million.

Pembroke is the earliest Cambridge College to survive today on its original site with an unbroken constitution from its first foundation. The original buildings comprised in a single court (now called Old Court) all the component parts of a college - Chapel, hall, kitchen and buttery, Master's lodgings, students' rooms - and the statutes provided for a manciple, a cook, a barber and a laundress.
