Lady Janet Fleming was Mary Queen of Scots governess – and her half-aunt. She began life as Janet or Jenny Stewart, an illegitimate daughter of King James IV. When she was about fifteen she was married to Malcolm, the third Lord Fleming who was ten years older than her. They had eight children before he died at the Battle of Pinkie.

15 de mai. de 2012 · Janet Stewart, Lady Fleming (17 July 1502 – 20 February 1562), called la Belle écossaise ("The Beautiful Scotswoman"), was an illegitimate daughter of James IV of Scotland and served as governess to her niece, Mary, Queen of Scots. Janet was briefly a mistress to Henry II of France, by whom she had an illegitimate son, Henri d'Angouleme.
She was a daughter of Malcolm Fleming, 3rd Lord Fleming and Janet Stewart, Lady Fleming, a daughter of James IV of Scotland. She was a courtier and supporter of Mary, Queen of Scots. She is known for stories told about her by her contemporary enemies.
6 de mar. de 2017 · Janet Stewart had married Malcolm, Lord Fleming, who died in 1547 at the Battle of Pinkie. Their daughter, Mary Fleming, also accompanied the five year old Mary Stuart to France in 1548, as a lady-in-waiting. Janet Stewart had an affair with Henry II of France (Mary Stuart's future father-in-law); their child was born about 1551.
