Isabel Sofia de Saxe-Altemburgo. Frederico I (em alemão: Friedrich, Gota, 15 de julho de 1646 - Friedrichswerth, 2 de agosto de 1691 ), foi Duque de Saxe-Gota-Altemburgo de 1675 a 1691. Era quarto filho, mas o primeiro que chegou à idade adulta de Ernesto I, Duque de Saxe-Gota e da duquesa Isabel Sofia de Saxe-Altemburgo .
Ernesto II ( Gota, 30 de janeiro de 1745 – 20 de abril de 1804) foi Duque de Saxe-Gota-Altemburgo. [ 1] Foi o terceiro filho (segundo sobrevivente) de Frederico III, Duque de Saxe-Gota-Altemburgo e Luísa Doroteia de Saxe-Meiningen. A morte de seu irmão mais velho, Frederico, em 1756 fez dele o herdeiro do Ducado de Saxe-Gota-Altemburgo.
Ernest II, Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (Gotha, 30 January 1745 – Gotha, 20 April 1804) was the reigning Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg from 1772 to 1804. He was the third but second surviving son of Frederick III, Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and Luise Dorothea of Saxe-Meiningen .
O ducado teve de sofrer por Frederico devido às dificuldades vividas durante a Guerra dos Sete Anos e a uma guerra com o seu vizinho, o duque António Ulrico de Saxe-Meiningen (a "Guerra de Wasunger"). Entre 1748 e 1755, foi regente do ducado de Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach em nome do duque Ernesto Augusto II de Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach.
