Edward Burgh, 2nd Baron Burgh of Gainsborough (English: / b ʊr æ /; BURRA; pronounced: Borough; c. 1463 – 20 August 1528) de jure 4th Baron Strabolgi, was an English peer.
In 1510, he was found a lunatic, being "distracted of memorie." His wife was Anne Cobham, by modern doctrine Baroness Cobham of Sterborough . In the third generation, Sir Thomas Burgh, Sir Edward's son, was summoned to the first Parliament after his father's death, and admitted on 2 December 1529.
Edward Burgh, 2nd Baron Burgh, married Anne Cobham, daughter of Thomas Cobham, 5th Baron Cobham, and Lady Anne Stafford, and had issue. His grandson, Sir Edward Burgh, would marry Catherine Parr; later Queen consort of King Henry VIII.
He is known for being the first husband of Catherine Parr, later queen of England. 18th-century historians have mistaken him for his grandfather, the elderly, Edward Burgh, 2nd Baron Burgh. Background. The Boroughs of Gainsborough in Lincolnshire were an old and well-established gentry family.
