Ossie Davis (born Raiford Chatman Davis; 18 December 1917 – 4 February 2005) was an American movie, television and Broadway actor, director, poet, playwright, author, and social activist. [1] [2] [3] He was known for his role as Yar in the 2000 animated movie Dinosaur .

They also co-produced the television series With Ossie & Ruby, which aired for three seasons. In 1980, Mr. Davis and Ms. Dee founded their own production company, Emmalyn II Productions Company, Inc. Mr. Davis was the author of three children’s books: Escape to Freedom (honored by the American Library Association and the Jane Addams Children’s Book Award); Langston ; and Just Like Martin .
Ossie Davis was an American actor, director, poet, playwright, and social activist. He was best known for his roles in films such as Do the Right Thing, The Client, and Grumpy Old Men. He was also a prominent figure in the Civil Rights Movement, and was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 1995.
