Duke of Wellington is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. The name derived from Wellington in Somerset, and the title was created in 1814 for Arthur Wellesley, 1st Marquess of Wellington, the Anglo-Irish military commander who is best known for leading the decisive victory with Field Marshal von Blücher over Napoleon's forces at Waterloo in Brabant.
Beim Tod seines Vaters erbte er 1934 dessen Adelstitel als 5. Duke of Wellington und wurde dadurch Mitglied des House of Lords. Zeitweise fungierte er auch als Friedensrichter ( Justice of the Peace) für Hampshire . Er starb 1941 im Alter von 65 Jahren an einer Lungenentzündung.

Brigadeiro Arthur Valerian Wellesley, 8.º Duque de Wellington KG LVO OBE ( 2 de julho de 1915 - 31 de dezembro de 2014) foi um nobre britânico e um brigadeiro aposentado do exército britânico. De 1943 até 1972, quando ele sucedeu seu pai, ele era conhecido como Marquês Douro. Depois, foi estilizado Sua Graça o Duque de Wellington .
