Die von Kurt Hahn initiierten Bildungsstätten des „Outward Bound“ nahmen eine recht kontinuierliche Entwicklung, obwohl sie in der deutschen Entwicklung der Erlebnispädagogik zunächst wenig Beachtung fanden. 1946 wurde der Outward Bound-Trust in London gegründet, und ist heute weltweit als „Outward Bound International“ bekannt und betreibt heute über 50 Einrichtungen in 35 Ländern.
