The family’s head at that time was his grandfather, Humphrey Stafford, Duke of Buckingham, whose marriage to Anne Neville (sister to Richard’s mother, Cecily) made him kin to the burgeoning House of York .

  4. HENRY STAFFORD BUCKINGHAM, 2ND Duke Of s (1454-1483), was the son of Humphrey Stafford, killed at the first battle of St Albans in 1455, and grandson of Humphrey the 1st duke (cr. 1444), killed at Northampton in 1460, both fighting for Lancaster.

  5. Henry died on 30 Apr 1563, at the age of about 62, at Caus Castle in Shropshire. He was buried in Worthen church nearby on 6 May. He was succeeded in his titles by his eldest surviving son, Henry as 2nd Baron Stafford, who himself died two years later. His brother Edward Stafford was the third baron.

  6. Henry Stafford was the eldest surviving son of Henry Stafford, 1st Baron Stafford and Ursula Pole. He married Elizabeth Davy, daughter of John Davy of Holbeach, Lincolnshire, before 1557. Serving in Parliament. Henry Stafford failed twice in 1553 to be returned as knight of the shire for Staffordshire for Parliament.

  7. Henry Stafford’s siblings were divided. His sister Dorothy married a committed Protestant and fled with him to Europe when Mary became Queen. His brother Thomas did the same, but returned to England in 1557 attempting to launch a Protestant rebellion. We do not know if Henry was involved in the plot.
